AHC60216 – Advanced Diploma of Horticulture

What is the course about?

This qualification is for people who are normally engaged as a Horticultural Business Manager or Owner. This person may want to develop an understanding of the management of a horticultural enterprise or business requiring higher technical skills. Undertaking this course will develop skills & knowledge in managing plant health, managing horticultural trials, collecting & managing data, preparing reports, monitoring & managing soils, managing plant cultural practices for amenity horticulture, developing strategies for the management of target pests & collecting & classifying plants.

How long is it going to take?

The course length is 24 months (2 years). But this can be shortened depending on your current skills which can go towards recognition of prior learning (RPL).

 

How is the qualification delivered?

The trainers come to you at your work place & are very willing to make multiple visits to you if necessary. They are able to tailor your training, to meet the required standards of competency.

What does the course contain?

  • Completion of eight (8) elective units.

ELECTIVE UNITS

  • A minimum of six (6) units must come from the elective units list
  • A maximum of two (2) units may be selected from the elective units or units aligned to Diploma or Advanced Diploma in AHC10 or from any other currently endorsed training package or accredited course. Selected units must be relevant to job outcomes in horticulture management.

Client(s): Target group are primarily engaged in a horticulture industry environment, & are likely to be involved in as horticulture business managers. Having the primary responsibility for ensuring that the horticulture business or organisation is successfully managed. These clients may be not have a formal qualification but is & may be able to meet the criteria of the unit elements requirements. Some training & up skilling may be required by the potential client.

Delivery & assessment arrangements

 

Duration: The program is delivered over a period of 24 months or part-time equivalent.
Organisation: The 8 units of competency in the qualification are all considered applied industry skills. There are 13 units to choose from, & therefore the programme can be tailored to suit the client’s needs.
