AHC40816 – Certificate IV in Sports Turf Management
What is the course about?
This qualification allows individuals to develop post-trade skills & knowledge to become specialists in the Turf Industry. This training Package & is suitable for people who are typically in a supervisory role & work in non-trade specific horticultural industries.
Job titles may include: Assistant curator, Assistant grounds manager, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, Head greenkeeper.
What is it going to do for me?
It provides students with the skills & knowledge needed to supervise staff who work in the horticultural Turf Industry. Depending on the subject chosen, you will be able to:
- Supervise & train staff
- Supervise & plan horticultural activities
- Promote plant health
- Supervise machinery maintenance
- Recommend plants, products & treatments
- Manage irrigation, drainage & treatment systems
- Implement an integrated pest management system
- Operating a budget & costing projects
How long is it going to take?
The course length is 24 months (2 years). But this can be shortened depending on your current skills which can go towards recognition of prior learning (RPL).
How is the qualification delivered?
The trainers come to you at your work place & are very willing to make multiple visits to you if necessary. They are able to tailor your training, to meet the required standards of competency.
What does the course contain?
- Completion of twelve (12) units made up of five (5) core units & seven (7) elective units.
- A minimum of five (5) units must come from the elective units list
- A maximum of two (2) units may be selected from the elective units or from units aligned to Certificates III, IV or Diploma in AHC10 or from any other currently endorsed training package or accredited course. Selected units must meet job outcomes relevant to turf.

|Clients:Target group are primarily engaged in the turf installation, management, greenkeeper area of the horticulture industry environment, & are likely to be involved in coordinating a wide range of activities. Target group are experienced workers in this type of organisation, but may have no qualification & or require up skilling of current knowledge & skills. They are existing new employees or can be longer existing workers. Target group are persons who have horticulture supervisory responsibilities for a number of workers & horticultural activities.|

There are10 units required & can be chosen from the list as noted in the client training summary for turf level 4.|
