Who is the course for?
Are you involved in spraying herbicides & pesticides for work? Some categories of herbicides & pesticides require chemical accreditation for purchase, use and application. Do you want to know how to handle, store & transport chemicals safely? Then you need ARO SafeChem Accreditation. This 3 day course is for people who wish to attain accreditation or re-accreditation to purchase and/or use Schedule 7
poisons.
The course is for individuals responsible for applying chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases. This course also
covers transporting, handling, storing, preparing and applying of chemicals.

Duration
3 full days (8 hours per day) theory and practical Start: 8.00am Finish: 4.30pm Half Hour Lunch break You must attend all 3 full days to achieve competency. Student must attend all classroom sessions as scheduled. Due to the duration and
intensity of the course, if a student arrives more than 20 minutes late on any day attendance will be at the discretion of the trainer/assessor.

Language and literacy |
ARO is required to conduct a Language, Literacy & Numeracy assessment for all students prior to the finalisation of their enrolment to ensure that their level of LLN is sufficient for them to successfully achieve the level of qualification they are undertaking. At your enrolment you will be provided with an IPad on which to complete the assessment with our Student Officer as an observer. The result will be discussed with you after the assessment and also sent to the Lead Trainer/Assessor who will discuss any reasonable additional support or flexible assessment you may need to successfully complete the qualification or may advise on other more suitable training options. Age & Identification |
Be a minimum of 18 years of age and provide photo ID (i.e. Australian Drivers Licence, Passport, Proof of Age Card). The ID must include your photo, signature and date of birth |

You will need to supply your own personal protection equipment (PPE) in the form of: |

Note: you cannot be more than 20 minutes late on any single day. If so your attendance will be at the discretion of the trainer/assessor. |

Physical requirements |
Must be physically fit to handle and use chemicals and chemical equipment, lift and carry some loads using equipment, handle chemical spray equipment, see well enough to distinguish chemical label- ling information, plant and pets identification, and manage outside environments under cold and warm conditions. |
